This time it begins with my being in a town called Fayetteville. My cousin has opened up a small shop there and I want to support her by making some purchases.
Inside the store looks primitive with the old wooden flooring and walls. She has wooden chopping blocks here and there on tables, and she has sophisticated spreads on them for small slices of bread and crackers. I converse with my cousin for a couple of minutes and she busies herself with straightening furniture, clothing, etc.
My cousin’s friend comes in and she has some sweaters she has made for selling in my cousin’s business. After a few minutes I make a couple of choices to buy. I tell her I left my handbag in the vehicle and I would be right back. I left my glasses in the shop, but I knew I would return anyway. On the way to my car, I see several heavy assault weapons. The familiar “clap” “clap” “clap” of the 50 cal could be heard not too far ahead of me. I could see the bright flash of the light break forth from the barrels.
I am stunned. It all happened so quickly, life changed. I had walked into the middle of the firefight without realizing it! (I think to see Chevy Equinox vehicles close by all this).
I thought to have heard: “They are fighting the Mexicans.” The Mexicans behind me are laying suppressive fire on the Americans. Bullets are whizzing past me and I am at the moment to shocked to move. I think to up a weapon and take up the fight, but I have no weapon. Instead, I press against the buildings to back track to the shop so I can warn my cousin of what was going on. I get there and she is locking up the business. I tell her there is a firefight and she just shrugs and goes on to her next activity she has planned. End
Note: It seems there is going to be a war on American soil. I was unsure of what started the war, or who. I was not certain if these were Mexicans already here or if they had come from across the border. My cousin represents those who are shallow in America. People do not care about the condition of the world as long as it does not affect them.
The Equinox could mean change of season.
