“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.”

Two Seeds

Shalom, sons and daughters of Abraham, this is Crystal Sharpe and welcome to the Ancient Scrolls program. Today is the first day of the week, January 21, 2018. This is the day that the Lord has made and His mercies are new each morning. Sometimes my pastor asks us: “Are you glad you get new mercies this morning? Every morning you get new mercies.” I am grateful to God that He has set His love on me. He is so good to us.

Today we will continue the teaching on the two seeds from last week.

Let us pray:

Father,

We thank You for being God. You are the King of the universe, over heaven and earth.  I appreciate that every generation experiences Your mercy, for Your mercy endures forever.  You have set Your affection on humankind, You pursue us with Your love, desiring to dwell with us, the weaker vessels. I am thankful to be able to possess Your word which is life and light to me in a world that grows increasingly darker. We need You, Father, because we are a desperate people in need of light. Without Your light we think only of ourselves.

I confess the sins of this nation before You, and ask that You convict this nation of its sins of homosexuality, murder, drug addictions, alcoholism, adultery, idolatry, greed, sexual addictions, child molestations, fornication, murder, hatred of You, its pursuit of self-gratification; take out from among us anger, frustration, bitterness, hatred, fear, doubt, jealousy, pride, and arrogance.  Cause this nation to hate its sins, its iniquities and transgressions, and to pursue You because You alone possess the gift of eternal life.

We ask that every principality, power and ruler of darkness and the spiritual wickedness in high places be arrested; that every plan, scheme, device, strategy, and design of the enemy will be hindered in this nation, and in every home.

We pray for those that are sick today, and ask that You send Your angels to minister to those that are struggling on their beds of affliction today. The Federal Ministry for Education and Research lists 30,000 known diseases. We pray You will visit those afflicted and heal them. You will be the only One to receive honor, praise and glory for it.

We pray for President Trump that You will saturate his life with Your wisdom, knowledge and understanding. We pray protection over him, over his wife, children and grandchildren. We ask that Your righteousness and justice will fill the earth. Thank You for the exposure of the sexual predators in our nation’s government and in Hollywood. My hope is that these people will repent before You.

We pray Israel will recognize Yeshua as their Messiah so they will have peace with You and with their neighbors and we pray conviction on the Muslim nations that hate You and Israel so they will have peace with each other and peace with You.

In Yeshua’s Name  Amen

Okay, so last week we talked about the two seeds that are in conflict with each other: the seed of the serpent and the seed of God. The seed of the serpent purposes destruction and the seed of God purposes life.

God told the serpent in Genesis 3:15 that He would put enmity (animosity)  between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman

We also talked about the law of the seed producing after itself as seen in Genesis 1:11

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so

All living things—animals, plants and people—multiply after themselves based upon a seed which the Father, our Creator, placed in them. We know cows will only produce cows, apple trees apples, humans produce humans and we see this in the natural that the seed produces after itself. This is a model for the spiritual, of how the spiritual world works also, whether it is the seed of the serpent-the devil, or the seed of God; it is based on the law; “after its kind.”

Last program two individuals were summoned to serve as illustrations of the seed of the serpent: Ishmael and Esau. These parties serve as a pattern for the antichrist. Esau hated his twin brother Jacob and thought to one day kill him. Jacob represents Israel and Esau the Edomites

Genesis 36:9.

And this is the genealogy of Esau, the father, of the Edomites at Mt. Seir.

In Genesis 27:39 Isaac gave Esau his blessing and the blessing consisted of that he and his descendants would live by the sword, and in several places in the gospels and in Acts 12 are the accounts of the Herods, who were the Idumeans, or Edomites, who (Herod the Great) massacred the little boys in Bethlechem with a sword, (Herod Antipas) beheaded John the Baptist, conspired with the Pharisees to kill Yeshua and in Acts 12 (Herod Agrippa) harassed some in the church and put to the sword James the brother of John.

There are similarities shared in the characters of the Ishmael, and Esau

Ishmael was an excellent archer, he was a wild man and lived in the wilderness of Paran, next to Esau in the hill country of Mt. Seir. In the Torah with commentary called the Chumash: Ishmael had mockingly raised his bow in a threatening manner toward Isaac. I am thinking it was the day of celebration when Isaac was weaned.  It was the wife, Sarah, who had them (Hagar and Ishmael) expelled, or exiled from them

Esau was born red, and hairy. He sold his birthright for red stew, and took a certain pleasure in spilling blood which is red. He located himself and his family next door to Ishmael at Mt Seir. Mt Seir means hairy as three consonants in Esau’s name means hairy (or se’r). Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field.  Like Sarah that had Ishmael expelled it was Rebecca the wife of Isaac, that caused the blessing to go to Jacob. Esau’s third wife was Basemat, the daughter of Ishmael.

So these were just patterns I saw.

Last program we discussed Azazel (who represents the devil) who was the scapegoat used on the day of atonement or Yom Kippur to be sent out into the wilderness with the corporate sins of Israel laid on him.

After Yeshua was baptized in the river Jordan he was lead by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness where He was tested by the devil.

So as I go through I just see certain patterns

In Matthew 13 is the parable of the seed of the sower, and Yeshua explains in verse 38 that the field where the seed was sown represented the world, and using His interpretation allows for the distinction of the two seeds: one that follows the world and the other seed that seeks the spiritual world.

Esau is a type of anti-christ. His descendants were the Herods fulfilling the the words of Isaac that said they would live by the sword.

According to Jewish historians, the Roman Empire came to be identified with Esau and Edom. Romulus, the founder of Rome was from the line of Esau. He had a twin brother named Remus. In the mythical version Rhea Silvia was the daughter of a disposed king and she became impregnated by the god Mars. After the twins are born, the king orders them to be left to die at the Tiber River. The basket they were placed in washes a shore and a she wolf suckles them until a shepherd Faustulus finds the twins and brings them into his home. Latin for prostitute and she-wolf is lupa. They were probably raised by a prostitute.

Later in their lives Romulus and Remus restore the throne of Alba Longa to their grandfather, and afterward start out to found their own city. These twins succumb to sibling rivalry and Romulus slays Remus. Romulus started the town on one of the 7 hills of Rome called Palestine, and becomes king and founder of the city of Rome. Rome is named after Romulus.

I am a Star-Trek fan and some years ago took notice of the appearance of the extraterrestrial species Romulans. Their first episode was called “Balance of Terror”, and throughout their screen life they were mostly depicted as antagonists, staying true to the Esau/Edomite function. The Romulans began as a group with the Vulcans but then developed some disagreements with their kinsmen and eventually settled on the planets Romulus and Remus. This has some similarities to the grudge story of Edom and Israel.

Another character in Genesis 36 to examine is Esau’s grandson, Amalek which is another type of anti-christ.  Amalek’s father was Eliphaz and mother was a concubine named Timna. Timna was a royal princess of the Horites, her brother was Lotan. Her father was Seir after whom Mt Seir is named. This sort of becomes twisted so I hope you can keep up, because there are some interesting details concerning her.

What I learned was that yes she was the concubine of Eliphaz son of Esau, buuuut she was also his daughter. It appears that Eliphaz had cohabited adulterously with Seir’s wife. Timna was a product of that union. Timna at some point desired to be in the family of Abraham because he was highly regarded in that area of Canaan. She had gone to Abraham and Isaac in hopes of converting to their Hebrew God, that is to learn of Him and be in God’s family. Jewish commentary explains they denied her conversion on the grounds that her conversion would not be genuine. Her hopes being crushed she then sought out Eliphaz. She said: “I would rather be a servant to one of this people than a noblewoman of another nation.” From her relationship with Eliphaz descended Amalek who afflicted Israel. Why so? Because the patriarchs should not have rejected her. Amalek, the son of the rejected Timna, became the arch enemy of the Jews.

You will also find Timna’s name mentioned among the sons of Eliphaz (which is unusual to list the names of daughters) in I Chronicles 1:36. Interesting

How did Amalek receive his name?

In Genesis 14:7 is the first mention of the Amalekites along with 3 other kingdoms that sacked 5 cities one of which was Sodom and captured Lot, the women and their goods and took them away. Abraham took 300 men and pursued after these 4 kings, and brought back Lot with everyone else and their goods.

So, how were there Amalekites in Genesis 14 when Amalek, the grandson of Esau had not been born until Genesis 36?

There was in those days of Genesis 14 a distinguished Horite whose name was Amalek. It was after this man that Eliphaz named his son.

That is a little history on Amalek.

So what else do we know about them. They were the first foe to attack Israel after they had come out of Egypt as a free nation. They are twice mentioned in the Torah or Pentateuch as the one whom war should be waged until his memory be blotted out forever Exodus 17:14-16 and Deuteronomy 25:19-Remember what Amalek did to you on the way when you were leaving Egypt “that he happened upon you on the way and struck those of you who were hindmost, all the weaklings at your rear, when you were faint and exhausted; and he did not fear God. It shall be that when the Lord you God gives you rest from your enemies all around, in the land which the Lord your God is gives you  as an inheritance to possess it, you will wipe out the memory of Amalek from under heaven. You shall not forget.

Remember this verse as we go forward into the Word to I Samuel 15 where Samuel gives King Saul his mission from Gd to eradicate Amalek

Verse 2 Thus says the Ld of hosts: I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, “how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt. Now go and attack Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them; but kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey

Verse 8 Kings Saul also took Agag king of the Amalekites alive and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

It is taught among the Jews that in the action and mayhem of the battle, either the wife of King Agag or a maidservant who was pregnant by him escaped and later gave birth to a son. Several hundred years later from this son came the descendant Haman, the Agagite, was promoted to an auspicious office over all the princes under the Persian King Ahasuerus. Esther chapter 3 when Haman saw Mordecai would not pay him homage Haman was filled with rage and verse 6   Haman sets himself to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus—which are the people of Mordecai.

Mordecai and Esther were the descendants of King Saul. King Saul had reservations about killing Agag, but it was an Amalekite that killed him at Mt. Gilboa in II Samuel chapter 1 and this Amalekite took Saul’s crown, his bracelet that was on his arm and took them to King David.

Upon David’s interrogation the Amalekite says in verse 6: As I happened by chance to be on Mount Gilboa, there was Saul leaning on his spear: and indeed the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

Verse 13 Then David said to the young man who told him, “Where are you from?”  And he answered, “I am the son of an alien, an Amalekite.”

Verse 14 So David said to him, “How was it you were not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy the Ld’s anointed?’’

Verse 15 Then David called one of the young mena and said, “go near, and execute him!” And he struck him so that he died.

Verse 16 So David said to him, “Your blood is on your own head, for your own mouth has testified against you, saying I have killed the Ld’s anointed.”

I am limited on time now and will try to make this quick

This young Amalekite in II Samuel and the Amalekites mentioned in Deuteronomy 25:19 had common elements: neither feared the Lord, and they both are said to have just happened

Deuteronomy 25:19 Remember what Amalek did to you on the way when you were leaving Egypt “that he happened upon you on the way and struck those of you who were hindmost, all the weaklings at your rear, when you were faint and exhausted; and he did not fear God. It shall be that when the Lord you God gives you rest from your enemies all around, in the land which the Lord your God is gives you  as an inheritance to possess it, you will wipe out the memory of Amalek from under heaven. You shall not forget.

Okay I am at the end of the program, have a good week, remember to walk by faith and not by sight; keep your spiritual garments clean from spots and wrinkles, ask God to cleanse you of all unrighteousness every day, remain in His service, Love God and love your neighbor.

There were two motives the Amalekites waged war against Israel was its desire to diminish the awe of God, by reducing the fear that had gripped all the nations of the world after Gd’s miraculous feats in Egypt. Amalek drastically minimized Gd’s glory for many generations to come, for which it now about to be held accountable.

The second was its desire to take out upon the Jews its bitter hatred against Jacob, who had stolen the patriarchal blessings from Amalek’s ancestor Esau.
