Shalom, Shalom; peace, in the name of Yeshua. This is Crystal Sharpe and welcome to the Ancient Scrolls program. Today is the first day of the week, Sunday, August 19.
Friday, the 24th of August at 6:30 pm, Pastor Gary Huff of Man Hu ministries will be teaching at Pastor Skeen’s Word of Faith church located on 4H Lake Road at Beaver, WV. Yeshua said that He was written in the volume of the Book Psalm 40, and Luke 24:44, and Pastor Gary is excellent in revealing Yeshua in those passages in Tanach, we say Old Testament.
Okay, so today we are going to continue discussing the beast of the sea and the beast in the earth in Revelation 13, and their association with the behemoth and Leviathan in Job and Psalms. Let us pray:
Father,
We thank You for being God and being the King of the Universe, over heaven and earth. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof; the world and those who dwell therein. Psalm 24
Thank You for Your abundant mercy; Your mercy endures forever. Thank You for forgiveness. I am going to read the Sh’ma; in Hebrew it means to hear, to obey and if you hear it means to practice it.
Deuteronomy 6: Sh’ma O, Israel (Hear O America), the Lord our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength.
We ask You to cleanse us from all unrighteousness that our prayers will not be hindered. We pray for a release of Your Spirit of repentance on this nation. We pray You will take the stony places out of the hearts of this nation and replace our hearts with hearts of flesh.
We pray for President Trump. We pray Your knowledge, wisdom and understanding will saturate him along with Your Spirit of might, counsel and the fear of the Lord. We pray protection over him, over his wife, his children and grandchildren.
Israel has been at war for many months and we pray that Israel will succeed against the hordes that rise up against You, God, and against Your people.
We pray for Your martyrs in China, and in the Middle East. They endure abuse, torture, rape, starvation, they are often drowned and burned alive, their children sodomized and beheaded in front of their parents and communities, yet they will not deny You, Lord Yeshua. I pray for them. These are people who are now in white garments under Your altar in Revelation 6:10, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” Your people are told to “rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.” We pray for them continual strength to endure, because persecution will be here until the second return of Yeshua. I pray that You will prepare the hearts of the people of this nation for persecution as well, as it is already here, and will become more violent as time progresses.
We make our appeals to You in the name of Yeshua. Amen
So, last Sunday I had gone over the two beasts in Revelation 13; the beast that came out of the sea and the beast that came out of the earth. We also went over the theme of water that runs through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. There was Noah and the flood; Moses being delivered from the water by Pharaoh’s daughter; Moses upon his descent from Mt. Sinai ground up the idol the golden calf and sprinkled it on the waters. He then made the Hebrews drink this mixture and this is related to Numbers 5, the passage dealing with the wife that is suspicious of being unfaithful to her husband. And the ritual performed by the priests will establish her innocence or her guilt; this is called the Sotah or the Law of jealousy, the waters of ordeal or the bitter waters.
In that passage the priests give the wife suspected of adultery water mixed with earth from the tabernacle floor to drink. The priest will also write curses in a book and scrape off the ink into the water that brings a curse.
In Revelation 13 is a hint of this as the beasts of the sea and the earth enter the world’s stage. It is during this time, at their arrival the church will discover if she is faithful or not. This will be her finest hour to expose him to the world as a fraud.
One would want to believe that every single person that even goes to church will be faithful to God and to His Son; but the reality is tares go to church with the wheat. Matthew 24 says: Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. Then many will be offended, will betray one another and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. The arrival of the antichrist will be the bitter waters, a time of testing to separate the tares from the wheat. It will be a time of extremes.
Now, I did say that we would look at Revelation 13, where we find these two beasts together, the beast from the sea (Leviathan) and the beast from the earth (behemoth). There is only one other place in the Tanach where they company one another, Behemoth and Leviathan, and it is in the book of Job chapters 40 and 41.
In other ancient texts, I am talking about the Apocrypha, the writers would place these beasts together. I have chosen some texts to read so that it will help you can see these beasts from an ancient perspective. It will help expand your knowledge on these creatures.
According to the Strong’s concordance Leviathan 3882 means a wreathed animal (The reason Leviathan is in a wreath or encircles the earth is because the oceans encircle the earth, and in some images is seen as a serpent encircling the earth with its tail in its mouth. In elementary school I was taught that the land masses, the continents in ancient times past were one land mass. Reading genesis 1:9 agrees with that theory, waters were gathered in one place and the earth was gathered in one place. A cataclysmic event separated the land mass into continents. Genesis 10:25 says that in the days of Peleg the earth was divided could be referring to that event or it occurred during the time of the flood in Noah’s day. One source said this: “Leviathan the coiled serpent is the mythic phrase for the ocean that surrounds the earth”); that is a serpent, especially the crocodile or some other sea-monster, Fig. the constellation of the dragon (Draco); also symbol of Babylon.
The text 4 Ezra 6:49:52: Then You ordain two living creatures, the one You called Behemoth, and the other Leviathan; and did separate the one from the other; for the seventh part of the earth, namely, where the water was gathered together, might not hold them both. Unto Behemoth you gave one part, which was dried up the third day, that he should dwell in the same part wherein are a thousand hills: but to Leviathan You gave the seventh part, namely the moist; and have kept him to be devoured of whom you will and when. (this part has messianic implications and I will go over it here in just a few minutes.)
In I Enoch 60:7-9 On that day [day of judgment] two monsters will be separated from one another: a female monster, named Leviathan, (Leviathan is the same for the dragon in Revelation. Leviathan is the dragon. You may question why it is female. We relate Satan to the Dragon in Revelation 12, 13, 16, 20 and we assume him to be male. But the sages say angels are adrogenous; meaning they are sexless, difficult to tell if they are either a male or female because some of their features are blended. However, they are able to shift once they are on earth to either male or female. The sages say that God is sexless as well, but He has characteristics that express maleness along with the attributes of love, nurturing, compassion, mercy and forgiveness that are feminine in nature. He is called El Shaddai, which captures fullness of nurturing. He also made Adam in His image; that making Adam adrogenous as well. It is from Adam that the woman is formed. She is not made from the dust of the earth, but formed, built, from the bones and flesh of Adam. Adam testifies of this in Genesis 2:23 and adds that the woman was taken out of the man. Because of Adam being made in the likeness and image of God, we can speculate that God has male and female attributes.) to dwell in the depths of the ocean above the fountains of the waters; but the male is called Behemoth who occupies with his breast an immense desert named Dedain [is located at Naid, or the land of Nod, in Genesis] to the east of the garden where the elect and righteous dwell. And I asked that other angel to show me the power of those monsters; how they were separated on one day, the thrown, one into the depths of the sea and the other on the dry ground of the desert.
2 Baruch 29:4, And YAHWEH answered and said to me: that which will happen at that time bears upon the whole earth. Therefore, all who live will notice it. And it will happen that when all that which should come to pass in these parts had been accomplished, the Anointed One will begin to be revealed. And behemoth will reveal itself from its place, and Leviathan will ascend from the sea (this agrees with Revelation 13), the two great monsters which I created on the fifth day of creation and which I shall have kept until that time. And they will be nourishment for all who are left.
This myth was well known to the first century Jews through apocalyptic literature and they would have known that one beast arose out of the populous sea, and the other from a distant, sparsely populated wilderness.
Isaiah 27:1
In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the fleeing (the serpent is a fugitive) serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
Psalms 74: 13-
You divided the sea by Your strength, You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters. You crushed the heads of leviathan in pieces (in the passage Revelation 13, the antichrist comes out of the sea of the nations, it had seven heads, and this of course represents humanity. It isn’t just the beast itself that is against God, but it is the participation of humanity in this hatred as well. It is the populations that rise up with the beast to hate God. It is more than just God defeating Satan, it is defeating all those who hate Him) and gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness. And the creature was fed to the people inhabiting the wilderness. This is a visual of the Messianic kingdom where terror vanishes, and we eat what we were once afraid of. We will devour it instead of us being devoured.
The beast that ascends out of the sea with 7 heads (7 represents perfection, completion, and fullness. On the beast it shows the complete fullness of evil and its all-consuming nature. God subdues the chaos, the terror. Behemoth in some literature is described as an ox and having two horns like the beast from the earth in Revelation 13:11 where it is depicted as a lamb with two horns.
As I was doing research the sages also called Leviathan Rahab. Rahab means boaster and sometimes it is used as an epithet for Egypt.
Isaiah 51: 9
Awake, Awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD! Awake as in the ancient days,in the generations of old. Are You not the arm that cut Rahab apart, and wounded the serpent?
Psalm 89:10
O, LORD of hosts, who is mighty like You, O LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You, You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, You still them. You have broken Rahab in pieces, as one who is slain; You have scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.
We have just a few minutes so let’s take a look at Job chapter 40 and 41
Job is weary in his body from the affliction of having boils on his flesh. He had lost his children, his servants and livestock. On several occasions he complains that God has been unjust to him and he wants vindication. So in a whirlwind God answers him concerning the marvels of His creation: the universe, the earth, and His creatures. Job cannot create anything, nor can he destroy it—but God has that ability. Then God focuses on the behemoth.
The description of the Leviathan is rather lengthy compared to Bohemoth in Leviticus 41
If it is God’s will I will be here next program. Remember to walk by faith and not by sight. Do two things this week: love and forgive. Ask God to cleanse you from all unrighteousness every day. Keep your spiritual garments clean from spots, wrinkles and blemishes. Love God and love your neighbor
The beast from the sea in Revelation 13 is Leviathan. Leviathan at times is called tannin, translated into Greek would be dragon, a time or two is referred to as Rahab, and still others say Lilith as in Isaiah 34:14 as a screech owl. So, I am just giving their understanding of it.
Leviathan according to the Strong’s concordance 3882 means a wreathed animal (The reason Leviathan is in a wreath or encircles the earth is because the oceans encircle the earth. In elementary school I was taught that the land masses, the continents, were one land mass.
Dr. Paula Price in her book called The Prophet’s Dictionary, has written concerning Leviathan: The word specifically means “a coiled one given in union by covenant.” She goes on to state: A ruling principality of the serpentine family whose spiritual rule is likened to that of the dragon. The leviathan of old was an aquatic creature that represented the cruel and absolute forces of nature; a symbol of the “unsubdueable,” the Leviathan equates to chaos. It is the god of chaos.
I especially noted in her definition Leviathan is spiritually the constellation of Dracos, which was adopted as the spiritual authority over ancient Babylon; also recognized in the ancient world as the Lady of the Sea, coinciding with Revelation 17:1.
The root of the word Leviathan is levi like in the name of Jacob and Leah’s son. Levi means to join, because Leah hoped by this time Jacob would love her and be joined to her because of the children she gave him.
So, in the book of Job we know that he had been attacked by Satan and lost his children, his livestock, his servants and finally his health was crippled by boils. Job made several complaints that God had acted unjustly against him and he wanted to be vindicated. Finally, God answers his accusations by saying to Job in chapter 39 to prepare himself like a man; and that He would question Job.
He then speaks to Job concerning the marvelous works of the universe, the earth and the secrets of his animal kingdom. The point being made was this: God uses Leviathan to illustrate to job that he is no match for what God has created, let alone a match for God Himself.
So God points to Leviathan in Job 41
The lesson is this: since man cannot dominate this creature—issued from the Maker’s hand, that humans (Job in particular), is not in a position to judge God’s activity relative to the inhabitants of the earth.
In Revelation 13 the beast that comes out of the sea is personified as a male, as him or he.
I equate this leviathan with Satan, and I have done this all my life, and unless there is hard evidence otherwise, it will not change. While looking through and doing some research on angels, and I was looking at some of the speculations of the ancient sages, and scholars that have had access to clay tablets in the Mesopotamian area; it appears that and this is going off track a little, but it will be information that you can further pursue; it has to do with angels which are called the sons of God in Genesis 6, who looked upon the daughters of men, saw that they were beautiful and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
It is here that I knew some really bad hanky-panky took place, that and coupled with the book of Jude verse 6, some angelic powers had left their proper estates or domain, they had left their own abode and because of this God had reserved them in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day. Sometime, in the next few years, the earth is going to have these angels released from the Euphrates (Revelation 9). In 2 Peter 2:4 tells us that God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment. Peter is a witness to Jude and they both are witnesses to the Genesis account of angels having had sex with women and producing anomalies called the giants.
We know that David killed an anomaly, the giant Goliath, who had 6 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot. This equaled to having 24 digits. The children of Israel scouting Canaan said they looked like grasshoppers compared to the giants there. Genesis 14, names the specific tribes giants: the Zumim, Rephaim Emmim, the Horites (Esau eventually displaced the king of the Horites and his children married into that tribe of them). Esau is connected with the giants.
Now Yeshua did say that at the resurrection that people will not marry nor will be given in marriage, but are like the angels of God in heaven. Meaning that all will be His servants, everyone will be doing His bidding, because it is going to be about Him and His desires. We will enjoy Him. It does not imply that angels cannot do something terrible like couple with the children of men.
When I had gone to Israel there is this remnant of giant’s skull at Golgatha. I mean, I just believe the word. It was fantastical for me to see it for myself. People there treat it like it is nothing profound. Matthew, Mark and John verify this by calling the place of Yeshua’s death the place of the skull, Golgatha. The Jews know it as the skull of a giant, the disciples knew it as a skull of an anomaly –a giant.
So, well where am I going with this, I found in research is that these angels, creatures are adrogenous; meaning that they have male and female characteristics. We would probably understand, a more common word as morphodite. There you have that word Morph (which can mean transform), that such a person is able to shift to which gender it desires.
The Jews express God as having male and female attributes, especially seen with His attributes of mercy, compassion, and love; that He is sensitive to our needs, He is very approachable and forgiving; He is a nurturer and one of His names is El Shaddai.
The story of Adam and Eve is a fantastical story as well. It is so fantastic to have a woman come from a man. Genesis confirms that man was made in the image of God, so what came out of man? A woman. Genesis 2, And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and God took one of His ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. Adam says: This now bone of my bones (DNA, genes, chromosomes, blood), and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman, because SHE WAS TAKEN OUT OF MAN.
The passages in Genesis tell us that she was not made from dust, she was made from him because it wasn’t good that Adam should be alone.
How fantastical does that sound? She was built from Adam. He had female in him. But it really isn’t that fantastical when you consider science today is able to clone animals, and hard to tell what else they are doing. We had gone to see the movie Jupiter Ascending and the hero in the film had DNA from several animals. So, the movie was revealing what deep science is doing. It is like the book by Mary Shelley called Frankenstein. Frankenstein ended up badly and so freaky science is going to end up badly as well.
It is thought that Leviathan is adrongenous according to the sages. The book of Jasher and Enoch have some amazing stories. The Book of Revelation has some fantastic images as well. I have to move on.
And talking about adrongenous, today we have an incredibly demonic politically correct society that resists the gender assignment at birth. If no one can see we are in the days of Noah
So, when some of you do research there will be some writings that depict Leviathan as a female with the name of Lilith and at other times a male. In Revelation 13, the entity from the sea and the entity from the earth are written as men.
The book of II Esdras chapter 6: 49-53 God created on the fifth day the two great monsters, leviathan and behemoth, and separated them because the seventh part of the world which was assigned to the water could not hold them together, and He gave to the behemoth that part which was dried up on the third day and had the thousand mountains which according to Psalm 1:10 as understood by the sages
when they began to couple with women.
Let’s us go over the definition of Leviathan first.
Leviathan, is found in Job 41, so let’s take a look at it.
so today we are going to take a look at Leviathan and Behemoth.
Leviathan is from the sea, the abyss and is defined as “twisted, coiled, wreath like
What she states is leviathan means a coiled animal, others s Jewish sites say it means twisted and coiled. The Strong’s Concordance says: a wreathed animal, i.e. a serpent; figuratively the constellation of the dragon, and also a symbol of Babylon. Dr. Price had also written something interesting: ‘A coiled one given in union by covenant.
Now, I don’t have a lot of fear to make speculation on some of the stories we have been so blessed to possess in our bible. If the story isn’t obvious concerning the details then I feel I have liberty to pursue the ancient sages reasoning because after all our bibles are ancient texts. The New Testament is an ancient text, Revelation is an ancient text written 2000 years ago. So I pursue ancient commentaries and scholarly works to help flesh out an ancient thought, event or story in our ancient book the Bible. To me it is important to have understanding of it, where these scrolls are coming from. This does not take away or add to the word of God—only scribes can do that. I don’t scribe the ancient languages of the Bible on to more current manuscripts. It is a huge undertaking to scribe the ancient scrolls of the Bible. There are certain procedures that must be met with Kosher standards and rituals. Now our texts that we possess are not scriptures, and that is not being blasphemous in any way. The true scriptures are the original manuscripts from which we receive our translations; and we have lots of translations of those original manuscripts, with some preferring some translations over others, and I use many different translations in order to determine the meaning of a certain passage. So, what I attempt to do is bring clarity to our ancient books of the Bible.
There are several names that have some connection to Leviathan: tannin, dragon, jackals and Rahab.
It is here that maybe I should say that translators have difficulties with certain words. Certain words have lost the original definition given it 6000 years ago, a word becomes redefined. One word as an example in our language is anxious, which means worry, or fretting. Many people today have redefined it to mean eager.
The peoples of the Mesopotamian area possessed a more concrete language that expressed behaviors that were, and still are verb oriented. It is a “do” or practice language. It expresses something that can be seen, touched, smelled, tasted, or heard and all the five senses are used. Our Greek or Roman language is abstract in that possesses values that are not seen, touched, smelled, tasted or heard; examples would be love, anger, and compassion; these words cannot be experienced by the senses.
In the book of Daniel, in chapter 7, the kingdoms, or empires that rise up are shown to him as animals; because these animals depict certain behaviors. Leopards are more mobile than bears, a python squeezes its prey until it suffocates it to death, and its behavior is quite different than a cobra. A jackal is not the same as a fox. Their behaviors are different. So when you look at these certain images in literature, in the Bible, these passages are giving certain behaviors of people, or nations.
Leviathan is quite ancient and the first word in the Bible to perhaps speak of Leviathan in Genesis 1:21, it is on the fifth day of creation and it is referred to as tannin. “And God created the great tannin, and every living creature that moveth.” The KJV define this as a whale. Well, recently I had purchased another Bible called the Sefer. Sefer means book, or scroll, so the translator did it this way: And Elohim created eth-great sea monsters, and eth every living creature that moves.
The Ancient Roots Translinear Bible has it written this way: God created great snakes, all living souls that creep, all kinds of winged birds. The water teemed in their kind. God saw good. God blessed them saying, Be fruitful and multiply Fill the waters of the seas
The Mesopotamian peoples understood the creature of chaos.
