This dream began with my being in a rural area. I am with my mother and youngest brother. I remember other people there as well, but I wasn’t familiar with them. We heard the sound of jet planes and every one pivoted toward the sound. The planes looked small in the distance, and as they got some closer, they had the appearance of dull aluminum. We witness them fire missiles and explosions were seen. The jets then turn to make another pass. We were in such shock we could not move. This next pass of the jets brought them closer to us and they began dropping their missiles closer to us. We bolted toward the wooded area that was not too far from us. There was some tall grass, it was brown and fragile looking, we made the distance to hide behind it. In the chaos we became separated from my youngest brother.
We hunkered in the wooded area, not knowing what to do next. I found an abandoned couch and sat on it. I looked to the left and saw a neon sign that said Logan’s. As the day progressed into late evening there were other people coming into the area. Some were bleeding from injuries and others were helping them into the area. I was grieved by what I saw. I couldn’t figure out how I would be able to help anyone since we had no medical supplies. We had no information, if there were enemy soldiers posted along roads, or if other people in the area were conspirators.
As more people came in the area, I saw coming with them (this makes no sense) a small robot. It explained it had come to count the injured. As it would move slowly along, as if to access the situation, it would say sympathetic words like “goodness.”
I would approach those coming in if they had seen my brother. I could sense my desperation to locate him. End of dream.
Note: In reference to Logan’s, there is an older movie called Logan’s Run that is set in the future. It is a utopic society where youthfulness is esteemed. Every child is implanted with a palm flower. The flower changes color upon the aging of the person, if I can remember correctly, and blinks, or either darkens on the age of thirty, at which time one must be exterminated. As sometimes goes, not everyone wants to die so they run. Logan is in the elite police force called the Sandmen who exterminates those who run. Logan ends up running himself when the computer changes his palm flower color. This is done so that he will find the location of a place called Sanctuary. I am thinking he is to destroy it. There is a scene in which Logan comes in contact with a robot who captures runners and freezes them for food. Anyway, at the end, the society is destroyed.
I think Logan’s Run is similar to the movie In Time where societies have this overarching technology that dominates their lives. In Time (starring Justin Timberlake), time is a currency. Age is free until the age of 25, after that, one must purchase time to live.
So, I do not fully understand the allusion to Logan’s. I made the connection because it was the only thing to reference besides the restaurant Logan’s.
